Kathy, Ken & Brierly

I love this image from my session with them last week.   Yes, I have the smiling one, but I love the mood here of parents looking at their newborn, 2 month old baby girl.   kathy told that after I left, Brierly took a 4 hour nap, which apparently she never does.  So the parents want me to come back again - so that the whole family gets some rest.  :)

From our Birthday party

For our Birthday party, I set up a make shift photo booth.  We had great fun, and I promised not to post photos of people that didn't include me.  Those are on a private website.  Don't worry nothing strange or kinky, just a bunch friends having fun.  Well, you know the internet, don't want any future candidates for office having to explain.

Me, I don't care.

For the photogs looking.  I set up a Canon 30D on a tripod with a Tamron 17-50mm, and locked it in around 35mm, which with the crop factor is around normal lens focal length.   I put a Canon 580ex in an Apollo 28inch softbox.  Hooked everything together with PocketWizards, and gave the people sitting in the photo, a Pocketwizard to release the shutter.

On some of these, Dave Demelim, is popping the PW and getting great expressions, from off camera.

The CD Cover shot

Kerry and I were working on some images, and I found this one, which I thought would make a great CD album cover. Kind of a Country music debut album. OK, so Kerry doesn't sing, nor is she a Country musician, but hey, if she ever gets a voice and the desire, we've got her debut cover, for the "When You left Me" ballad.

We got tickets

We just got a pair of tickets to see U2 in concert in September at Foxboro Stadium. Wow! I'm so excited, and it's 5 months away.

Easter Sunrise

We were on the Beach at 6 a.m. for Easter Sunrise worship this morning. 30 degrees, and with the wind, it felt like the teens, but it was gorgeous. I just brought my Canon G9, which had become my walk around camera. It's small and light.

From the Archives

It's Spring Cleaning time, and this year, that means a serious purge of my office. I've filled 3 trash cans, and boxed up all my records, even my Income tax stuff going back to 1987. Yikes! In the process, I've found some great old photos. This one is of my friend, Erik Bell and I. Summer of 1981 or 2, we were working as summer camp counselors at El Camino Pines in the mountains north of Los Angeles. My wife says, that before she met me, she saw this photo, and was intrigued. I believe that was her word, intrigued. I'd probably say, frightened.

The old man and the sea

My friend Bill Bishop has one of those character faces. And I thought he'd be perfect for a series of images with the Point Judith Lighthouse in the distance. He's also a musician. We spent some time on Saturday at the ocean, with a great storm swirling around us. It was blowing in 40 mph gusts, they say. But it was absolutely worth it to get these images. Bill is not much of an internet guy, so I'll be making prints for him.

Twitter is out Twitpic is in

OK, I've discovered I'm not a twitter guy. i tried, I did, really, honestly. But I just couldn't bring my self to send a 50 character update on my life every hour. Are people really that interested in my life? I think not. Then, as I was viewing Chase Jarvis website, a wonderful Seattle, WA based photographer - I discovered his creative use of the iphone camera.

Putting my boredom or just plain lack of interest in twitter, with the discovery that Twitter now has, maybe they always did, a photo page. Sooooo, I thought, ah, now I can simply take my iPhone everywhere and as I take photos with it, just send 'em to Twitpic.

We'll see how long this lasts, but the link to the right below my mug takes you to my Twitpic site, and my collection of iphone photos.

The iphone camera is like the new digital Holga, the Russian camera from the Cold War era that is now used by a bunch of art school film photogs. Ooops, now that I've posted this notice, I better load up some photos for you to view.

Hard to Believe

Guess whose birthday it is on Friday?

Images for the Newport Wedding Gallery

Nancy Sweizcy invited me to be a part of the Newport Wedding Gallery on Thames Street, so I prepared 4 images for her to hang in the gallery. Here are my selections. I wanted images that were emotional images, or different angles on weddings. She'll pick three to hang. If you are in Newport, stop in and check 'em out. Nancy is on 478 Thames Street in Newport, Rhode island.

Quick trip to DC

On Monday Lisa and I were down in DC visiting our son for two days. The Cherry Blossoms were in peak form. Plus a chance to stop in the Smithsonian and see my favorite series of paintings, The Voyage of life by Thomas Cole.
