The Beekeeper of Charlestown

I spent this afternoon with Rich Schumacher. He's a retired AT&T guy, who seven years ago picked up the hobby of Beekeeping. It was quite amazing to see the intricate connection between Bees and their keepers. i was researching an article I am writing for a local town paper, the South County Independent. Once a month I profile a local person for the paper. I chose to do this article because of the recent reports on huge losses of bee hives across the US. So in addition to the photographs, I'm now researching all about Honey bees.

Portfolio Review Prep

I've been working on my portfolio for editorial images, as I am starting to submit images to magazines for publication. in the process, i came across this photograph from 2005, when we were traveling in Germany. Europe was hit by some phenomenal weather that summer -rain everywhere. This was taken along the German Austrian border in the country near Salzburg.

A visit to the Preschool

The slide show you are hearing. It plays automatically, is from a visit I made today to the Preschool at our church. The kids are so full of energy and conversation. I actually have a hard time understanding them sometimes. I brought my camera and an audio recorder, and edited this little slide show together.

Jim & Susan

Jim & Susan were married at Linden Place in Bristol, Rhode Island. My first wedding of the year. Nice couple, and as always great to be at Linden Place - which i like for many reasons, including the fact that we are all in one location, plus they don't go really late, so i can go home early. But, it's just the best place in the Spring with all the trees in Bloom - this year the Magnolia Tree was going whaaaaahoooooo! Wedding Photography in Rhode Island let's you see stuff like this!

A Day in Maine
I spent Monday in Brunswick, Maine teaching a seminar "Making Wedding Photography Fun Again." My friend Jeff Morris, is the president of the Maine Professional Photographers Association. He invited me to come up for the day. Wow! Maine is big. I left at 7 a.m., taught from 12 til 5 p.m., and then returned home around 10 p.m. I didn't know one could drive so much.
The class was great. We were expect 6, and in the end 24 people crammed into Jeff's Studio. We spent half the time talking about style in Wedding photography, and the other half discussin marketing. People had great questions, and the feedback was really positive. Makes me think I'd like to do more of it.
