PPA Rhode Island Awards

I just got back this afternoon from Newport, RI, where the Professional Photographers of America - Rhode Island Chapter held their annual convention. I had three of my prints awarded merit points and blue ribbons. The highest scoring print and the most talked about by the judges was this one of the young male lion from my 2005 trip to Africa. I joked with someone at the event, "Oh, great how's this gonna look to all my portrait and wedding clients. So did the print of my three darling little boys win? Ahhhh, well, no. Your adorable children lost out to this adorable yet hungry lion."

print competition is a funny thing. I listened and watched the whole thing all morning. Most of the judges were really good, but sometimes they skipped over amazing portraits. But, that's the nature of the game. Anyway, I'm happy to win, and my "Young Simba" will now be a candidate for the International competition.
