PPA Certified

This week I am reflecting on 2005, while I clean closets & offices. I guess you could call that multi-tasking. I'm thinking and chucking at the same time.

2005 was good year, but difficult too. My father passed away in June at the age of 77, that was just about 6 months ago.

The good part: I became a certified photographer in the PPA (Professional Photographer's of America) Of the 15,000 members of PPA, about 2500 are certified, so I feel this is a significant accomplishment. In order to reach this level, you must pass a written exam of 70 questions dealing with all aspects of photography, from composition to lighting to digital capture to film processing. In addition, you must prepare 20 photographs from different events that you have covered and submit them to a panel of judges at PPA.

I got the news that I'd passed this past Fall, and smiled broadly. Then I noticed that my dues to PPA were going to increase in 2006 because I was at this level. Hmmmm.

Merry Christmas

Just a brief Merry Christmas and Happy Hanukah to all this year. May the spirit of Hope and Peace reign in your lives.

This year my mother is out from California visiting us for Christmas. Today after watching the Giants game, we'll go to church. Growing up as a child, we always opened gifts on Christmas Eve, but Lisa had the Christmas Day tradition. Urggh. So I've got to wait til Christmas Day for that brand new Canon 5D camera.

Merry Merry to you all.

New Web Blog

First it was email. I think I had an early account with adelpia in the late 1980's when I was running on an Epson computer. The it was my first website in the mid 1990's. Now I've added a blog, short for web Log - kind of an online journal. Rather than a place to rant against the machine as is so often the case with blogs, my hope is to use this blog as an online journal for all of my photography related activities - both personal and professional. At this point, I'm making an early entry on the blog to test it out.

More to come.

Welcome!

Welcome to my blog! Here I will cover many topics surrounding photography, in particular though, photography in Rhode Island.
